Clare creates her tassels from rayon thread and glass beads. Her work starts with winding and binding the thread to create a tassel. The decorative beadwork is formed with Japanese seed beads, which are individually sewn to each other to create a decorative sheath around the thread core, the beads becoming an integral part of the tassel. The bead designs are all carefully and mathematically created, playing with color to create individually patterned designs which complement the underlying fibers. She enjoys collecting a range of beads, old and new, to adorn and finish the tassel, making each one a unique creation.
